The Palestinians

In 1967, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria attempted to strangle Israel by forcing the removal of UN peacekeeping troops and closing Israel's southern shipping lanes by blockade. Arab armies massed on Israel's borders. In a war of self defense, Israel captured the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza strip from Egypt, the Golan Heights from Syria, and the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan. The Six Day War of 1967 was a war of survival for Israel. Israel's goal was survival, not the conquest of Arab populations.
