Mark Meyerowitz

Mark Meyerowitz established the “Republican Friends of Israel” (RFI), a political, non-profit, non-sectarian, organization in June 2010 to generate support for a strong and free Israel among Republican officeholders, candidates and rank and file Republicans. He believes that a deepening of the understanding between the US and Israel, a major objective of the RFI, can be achieved through the election of Republican candidates committed to maintaining strong ties between the two countries.

A native of New Jersey, Mark has been the town chairman in West Orange, NJ since 2006. Dormant for nearly a decade, the committee has been transformed under his leadership into a vibrant force in local politics. This past spring it was instrumental in saving taxpayers several million dollars as a result of a successful campaign to defeat a bloated school budget. Although Republicans constitute only a small percentage of registered voters in West Orange, some of the committee’s members have become prominent figures in the county’s political activities.

In the past, Mark has analyzed many business models, identifying which strategies would be best for a company’s plan of action. Therefore, he would not only bring his passion for politics to carry out RFI’s mandate but also his business acumen to optimize its management and development.

Mark has a profound connection to Israel, which was engendered, in part, by the history of his mother and grandmother who were both concentration camp survivors and had been forced into slave labor during the Holocaust. In addition, he is familiar with the country because of his frequent travel to Israel and because he spent a year studying at Hebrew University while he was a sophomore at Brandeis University.

Mark lives in West Orange and in his spare time he enjoys photography, travel and skiing.

Nancy Kurtz Meyerowitz

A lifelong supporter of Israel, Nancy Kurtz Meyerowitz shares a deep conviction with her husband Mark that Israel and the United States must work together to preserve both countries’ mutual love of freedom and democracy.

A native New Yorker, Nancy graduated from SUNY Binghamton with an undergraduate degree in Political Science. She went on to the University of Michigan where she earned a Masters Degree in Public Health.

From 1980 to 1994, Nancy worked in various administrative capacities for several hospitals, most notably Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. Nancy is an expert in the healthcare reimbursement field.

Nancy was the first Executive Director of Vista Health System, one of the first IPAs (Independent Practice Associations) to engage in risk contracting with insurance companies. Under her leadership, Vista grew from 50 to over 300 physicians. One of the few IPAs that were profitable, it continues to be a vital link in the healthcare delivery system in north-central New Jersey.

In 2002, Nancy became the Executive Director of the Associates in Cardiovascular Disease, a 14-doctor cardiology group with headquarters in Springfield, NJ. The Associates provide comprehensive cardiac services to over 12,000 patients. Recently Nancy completed the implementation of an electronic medical records system which will further enhance the care and communications with the entire roster of patients.

Nancy and Mark were married in 1979, and have two grown children. They frequently travel to Israel and are excited about the challenge of creating an organization with the primary mission of promoting American support for Israel.
